Controlled Carcinogenic Substances
Under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Carcinogenic Substances) Regulations (Cap 59AA) in Hong Kong, “Controlled substances” refer to any of the following chemicals:
- Alpha-naphthylamine and its salts (other than alpha-naphthylamine containing, as a by-product of a chemical reaction, more than 1% of beta-naphthylamine)
- Ortho-tolidine and its salts;
- Dianisidine and its salts;
- Dichlorobenzidine and its salts;
- Auramine;
- Magenta.
Workers exposed to these substances are required by this regulation (Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Carcinogenic Substances) Regulations) to under pre-employment and periodic medical examinations as a mandatory requirement.
